Subscriptions

Using Junction bot you can you can read several sources as one feed. this is what we call a subscription. It doesn’t mean “one” literally though! You may create as many feeds as you like. For example, to group different sources by topic (feed with your favorite bloggers, feed with crypto news, feed with cute cats etc).

Read messages in one feed

First, make friends with the bot (find @junction_bot via Telegram search or click here).

1. Send @channel_name or an invitation link of the channel you want to add, to the bot.
2. If you are not sure about the channel’s name, use inline-mode: enter my name in the chat – @junction_bot, then space and then anything you are looking for (for example, @junction_bot bitcoin). I’ll show you all the channels I know which contain this word in names, titles or descriptions.

Read messages in several feeds

Sometimes it feels more convenient to group the incoming messages into several feeds. You can flexibly customize your feeds by using, for example, filtering rules and you can set different titles and pictures to them.

To create several feeds:
1. Create a chat and invite @junction_bot to it as an administrator. No other users or bots should be there except you! We call this chat a service chat (a chat that has only you and the bot as members).

Doesn’t work? Some Telegram-clients do not allow you to create an empty chat with the bot. Please use the following workaround:
a) create a chat and add any person to it
b) remove this person
c) add @junction_bot to members
Keep exactly this order!

2. Now you can manage your subscriptions (see the list of commands here) and the feed itself. You can change the feed’s chat name and picture, apply filters, etc!

To see all your service chats use the command /subs (former /list).

The subscriptions you read in a service chat should be managed in that chat (not the main chat with @junction_bot). The number of your active subscriptions is equal to the sum of subscriptions in the main chat with the bot with all active subscriptions from service chats.

PS: In these feeds you can`t use forwarded messages to subscribe to channels. Please use the command /join@junction_bot @channel_name

Browse channels

Find new channels – Junction bot has a feature to find channels similar to those in your current subscription. Use the command /find for it.

Search channels by word – use the inline-mode: in the chat with Junction bot enter its name (@junction_bot), then space and then anything you are looking for.

Example: @junction_bot bitcoin - will show you a list of channels which have the word 'bitcoin' in their name, title or description.

Limits

You start Junction bot with a demo with the limit of 100 subscriptions. A free account has a limit of 7 subscriptions. More about different types of accounts you can read here.

Commands/join - subscribe to a channel.
Format: /join channel_reference
Ex. /join @cool_channel 
OR /join https://t.me/joinchat/BzNPNEIpr5UluNgf7ahmdw

/leave - unsubscribe from a channel.
Format: /leave channel_reference
Ex. /leave @cool_channel 
OR /leave https://t.me/joinchat/BzNPNEIpr5UluNgf7ahmdw

/leaveall - leave all channels.

/disable - stop receiveing messages from a channel.
Format: /disable channel_reference
Ex. /disable https://t.me/cool_channel

/enable - start receiveing messages from a channel.
Format: /enable channel_reference
Ex. /enable https://t.me/cool_channel

/enableall - start receiveing messages from all channels you are subscribed to.

/disableall - stop receiveing messages from all channels you are subscribed to.

/subs (or the corresponding menu button) - show current subscriptions. Subscriptions are marked with "+" or "-" meaning active or disabled correnspondingly.

/find - find channels similar to those in your current subscription.

Reducing delays

For public channels on an Economy account, message delivery can take up to 1 hour. Delivery from private channels usually happens instantly, but rarely, once in a while, it can jump up to 10-20 minutes.

If your source channel is completely new to the system and we have a high load it can take a while for the bot to start receiving messages from it. Please let us know if it takes more than one day.

We are providing a service for speeding up delivery from a public channel so it will take several seconds. This service costs €1.20 per channel per month. You can enable/disable speeding up whenever you want with command /express.

Another way to make the delivery instant is to use the Direct Connection. All messages from direct connection come instantly.

Status “Pending”

If your source channel is completely new to the system and we have a high load it can take a while for the bot to start receiving messages from it.

If using the command /list you see channels marked by PENDING, it means these channels are waiting for being connected to the bot. Please wait for 10-30 minutes’ time and messages will start coming.

Please let us know if it takes more than one day.

Removing all subscriptions

All subscriptions to the current chat can be deleted with the command
/leaveall

Sometimes it is needed to delete subscriptions to a service chat that is no longer available. Then use /leaveall with the chat number as an argument. For example:
/leaveall 123456789

If you need more than 100 subscriptions

To get more than 100 subscriptions you need to create a non-service chat with the bot. It will be considered as a separate account and, accordingly, will have independent limits. If you purchase an Economy account in this chat, then you can create another 100 subscriptions in it.

In order to create a non-service chat, it is enough to add someone else to the chat besides yourself and @junction_bot: another user or a bot. After that, you can check that the chat has become a non-service chat with the command /account. When you see that the chat has become a non-service chat, you can remove unnecessary participants from it.
