3 ways to forward a message in Telegram without an author

There can be many reasons to hide the author of a message in Telegram when forwarding a message. For example, you want to show your boss a work correspondence with the minuses of a new project, but in such a way that he doesn’t know who is criticizing. Or you need to drop an important message into the work chat, but keep secret who wrote it. Or send your mom a greeting card, but so she can’t subscribe to a greeting card channel and flood you with greetings all year long.

3 ways to forward a message in Telegram without an author

There are three ways you can forward a message in Telegram without identifying the author.

This article will be especially useful for administrators of tg-channels, chat rooms or groups, but it will also be useful for anyone who reposts in private conversations and does not want to show the name of the sender of the message.

Ways to forward a message in Telegram without an author

There are three ways how you can forward a message in Telegram without specifying the author: manually, using the built-in function of Telegram and with the help of Telegram bot Junction Bot. The first two methods are suitable if you sometimes send messages and you rarely need to hide the sender, the last one will be useful for administrators of Telegram channels and those who plan to become them. I’ll tell you more about each method.

Method 1: Forward the message manually

How to do: you need to highlight the text of the message you want to forward, press: «Copy».

Then go to the chat room with the person you are talking to and click «Insert». That’s it:

Pros:

  • The easiest way to do it.
  • You can select part of a message to copy or even individual words and sentences.

Minuses:

  • The most inconvenient way to forward a message – you have to do a lot of actions just for the sake of not specifying the sender.
  • On a smartphone in the Telegram app «select → copy → paste» will be very inconvenient, in the desktop version it’s easier, but you’ll still have to spend time.

Method 2: Use Telegram’s built-in feature

Pavel Durov has figured out how to forward a message in Telegram without the author, and introduced a convenient feature – you can change the sending parameters immediately when reposting. Suitable if you need to forward one or more messages. If you need to forward anonymous messages frequently – it will be inconvenient.

How to do:

1. Check the box next to the message you want to forward and press Forward.

2. In the contacts list, select whom you want to send the message to.

3. If you are reposting on your smartphone: press the repost button and hold your finger until the menu appears. Then select «Hide Name» – the recipient will receive the message without authorship.

4. If you send in the desktop version of Telegram: Right-click on the repost button. A menu will open – deselect the «Show signature» and «Show sender name» fields.

5. Send – the recipient will not see the author of the message.

Pros:

  • No additional tools needed, doesn’t take much time.
  • The sent message can be edited, for example, to remove the text and leave only the attachment – useful if you want, for example, to send only a picture, but do not want to show what you wrote before it.

Minuses:

  • You have to constantly remember to uncheck/check the boxes.

Method 3: Forward automatically with Junction Bot

Junction Bot is a bot that can redirect messages in Telegram automatically in the way you want: without author, with a time delay, with auto-translation or other filters – you choose the parameters for the messages you send.

To work with the bot, you need to subscribe. But you can try it first – three days are free and there is no limit to the number of reposts.

What you need to know before setting up a bot:

  • If you connect the bot to your Telegram account, you’ll be able to repost or redirect any posts in less than a second. There is no limit to the number of channels and messages. In addition, you will be able to make reposts even from channels that have the ability to copy and forward posts disabled. In this case, the channel administrators will not know that you make reposts – this information will be hidden for them.
  • If you don’t want to connect a bot to your Telegram account, you can use a link-invitation to the channel you want to repost from to redirect messages. The bot will be able to forward messages as long as it is a member of the channel, if the admins ban it – you will have to connect the bot to your account.
  • Junction Bot knows how to redirect messages to several different channels at the same time – this is a huge time saver.

I’ll tell you how to use the bot specifically for reposting without specifying the author. The easiest way to do this is through the Menu – all the basic functions are available there.

1. Activate the bot.

2. Go to Menu → create redirect.

3. Specify a link to the channel or chat from which you want to redirect messages. If the channel is public – just specify its address. If private, you need to provide an invitation link. If you want to repost from a closed channel or chat, click «Copy from a closed source».

4. That’s it, the bot will forward messages without the author – the source link is disabled by default, you don’t need to customize anything additionally.

What else can you change in the original posts when you repost:

  • message text;
  • footer;
  • buttons;
  • Post title;
  • formatting your message, such as using italics or adding paragraphs.

You can also use regular expressions for substitution. For example, specify that the bot automatically removes all text after the word «P.S.» in the original post, or automatically bold all numbers, or replace the original link with the one you want.

Settings can be changed at any time – the bot accepts them immediately.

Pros:

  • The most convenient way if you have to do a lot of reposts from different channels.
  • The bot works constantly and without weekends – you don’t have to monitor the release of new posts in the channels to repost them. The bot will do everything automatically and by itself.
  • You set the settings once – and you don’t waste any more time designing and cleaning up your posts.

Minuses:

  • You’ll have to fiddle a bit with the settings and commands.

It saves a lot of time and nerves of administrators, and can make reposts even from closed channels and chats to any other without specifying the source and with modified links and text.
